Feeding our Community

Feeding our community from a cultural perspective with locally grown crops is important for fostering sustainability, resilience, and a sense of interconnectedness.  In Hawaii, the land, or 'Aina, is regarded as the source. It embodies the concept of Aloha 'Aina, love and respect for the land.

By embracing local agriculture the produce grown not only helps our economies by supporting locals but also reduces carbon footprints associated with long distance transportation.  By cultivating and consuming crops within our community, this act of sharing becomes a symbiotic relationship that celebrates cultural identity developed between the growers and consumers, this fosters a deeper understanding of seasonal cycles and the farming process.  This ensures fresher, more nutritious produce, promoting overall health and well being among ohanas.

Furthermore, supporting local agriculture establishes a resilient food supply chain, mitigating the impact of external influences and contributing to the community's self-sufficiency.

In essence the practice of feeding a community with locally grown crops is a holistic investment in both the well being of individuals and sustainable prosperity of the community as a Ohana.
